The Organized Neighbors of Edgewood (ONE) was founded in 1987 in response to proposed zoning changes impacting the neighborhood. A group of concerned residents united to form the organization with the goal of ensuring that the voice of Edgewood's community was heard.

 

ONE is one of three neighborhood organizations that make up Neighborhood Planning Unit O (NPU-O), alongside the Kirkwood Neighbors Organization (KNO) and the East Lake Neighbors Community Association (ELNCA).

 

ONE’s mission is centered around fostering a vibrant, safe, and engaged community by focusing on several key areas:

• Advocacy: Empowering residents to create positive change and promote the recognition of Edgewood as a thriving neighborhood.

• Civic Pride: Uniting residents through initiatives that foster membership, volunteerism, and community involvement.

• Communication: Facilitating open dialogue and social interaction among neighbors, encouraging civil discussion on diverse viewpoints.

• Education: Serving as a bridge between the community and local governments, providing residents with information about issues that impact them and their city.

• Equality: Promoting diversity, inclusivity, and nonpartisanship within the neighborhood, ensuring that all voices are valued.

• Public Safety: Encouraging active participation in maintaining peaceful neighborhoods, ensuring safety, and promoting a clean, accessible, and friendly environment.

• Stewardship: Preserving the neighborhood's environmental and historic integrity, supporting sustainable development, and adhering to community architectural standards.

 

Through these core principles, ONE remains committed to shaping a better future for Edgewood while honoring its rich history and vibrant community spirit.
